  • 1. Always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil (such as jojoba, coconut, or almond oil) before applying to the skin to avoid irritation. A general guideline is 1-2 drops of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil.

    2. Conduct a patch test by applying a small diluted amount of the essential oil to a small area of your skin (like the inside of your elbow) and wait 24 hours to check for any adverse reactions.

    3. Do not apply essential oils to sensitive areas such as the eyes, ears, and mucous membranes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with a carrier oil, not water.

    4. For inhalation, use a diffuser, (5-10 drops depending on strength desired) steam inhalation, or simply add a few drops to a tissue or cotton ball. Avoid direct inhalation from the bottle.

    5. Store essential oils in a cool, dark place, in tightly sealed dark glass bottles to maintain their potency and prevent oxidation.

    6. Consult with a healthcare professional before using essential oils if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or using them on children. Some oils are not safe for these groups.

    7. Be cautious with photosensitive oils (such as citrus oils) that can cause skin reactions when exposed to sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight on skin where these oils have been applied for at least 12 hours.

    8. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or are taking medication, consult with a healthcare professional before using essential oils.
